Forte de Gaia

Pros: Fantastic location. Staff were exceptional, made you feel like nothing was too much. They went above and beyond to make you feel at home and looked after. Cannot recommend the hotel enough.

Excellent hotel and location

Pros: A really good property and absolutely perfect location for start of our Douro cruise. Rooms equipped for every comfortable and 100/100 for the staff who went far and beyond any expectations. Cannot recommend this hotel enough. 5****

Beautiful hotel with great view of the river & town

Pros: Location is great , had view of the bridge and the old town from my room. Pool also has great view towards the bridge. All in all beautiful hotel and friendly staff

An exceptional hotel

Beautiful hotel is a great location.

Pros: Location was amazing and perfect for us. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is absolutely beautiful inside, a bit funky and very well kept.

Cons: They automatically add a service charge for everything. The rooms do have tea / coffee facilities but no milk is provided. I phoned down for some and was told I would have to pay a room service charge for a tiny bit of milk. I did so as wanted it for my tea but I think it’s a bit much to be honest.

Perfect Break in Porto

Pros: Location, location location. This my second visit to this hotel. Staff are very attentive and level of service is excellent. Rooms are very comfortable. Breakfast is delicious. Plenty of choice. The trip to Douro Valley was excellent and organised by the hotel. So this a must if you choose to stay here! All in all a fantastic & relaxing 10 night stay and we were very sad to leave.

Cons: This hotel stay was alot busier than last year which did impact our time at the pool only one day as it was less relaxing and very busy. Apart from that we had a great stay and hope to be back again next year.

Luxurious, comfortable hotel with stunning views and attentive staff.

Pros: Great location, fancy design of the hotel. Inviting pool area with ample (very comfy) deckchairs. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Overall rather high-end, but you‘d expect that from a 5* property. Spacious rooms with an extremely comfy, massive bed!

Cons: Prices of poolside drinks make you remember you‘re in a high-end, 5* hotel (read: very pricy!). Gym a bit small but decent.

The hotel's location, food quality and bedding are excellent. What more could you want?

Pros: Breakfast was excellent, quality of the food, table setting, staff. Very fresh products.

Cons: To be honest, the style of the hotel is not my cup of tea; I prefer a different décor, but that's a very personal thing.

Lovely stay in Gaia and Porto

Pros: We enjoyed all aspects of Forte de Gaia. The welcome was efficient and friendly, even before we arrived I asked for and received prompt assistance with airport transfer. The room was excellent with plenty of space for our bags and belongings, the room service was also top grade with staff checking if all was ok several times a day. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of variety, with views of the city from the restaurant. It was nice to relax at the pool which was heated to a nice temperature.

Cons: Hard to find any bad points, the only small and petty detail would be the thickness of bread was too thick for the toaster at breakfast.
