Residencia Vale Formoso

Pros: Very good price for Rome, its not too far from the main train station. Fairly easy to find. About 15 mimute walk.from the train station. Once you arrive you are given details how to enter. You can leave your bags of you arrive early. Alessia phones you and guides you how to get in. Good English. Nice little selection of food for breakfast. Good facilities in the kitchen. Nice solid walls to block sound of others im the other rooms.

Cons: Quite dark inside

Pros: Close to the bus station, clean, great value for money

Pros: The manager was very helpful. It was very clean, with clean towels supplied each day. It's close to a Lidl, 7 mins walk, and the bus stop, 2mins. Walk I to the old city is about 30mins. Many cafes around. Room was spacious and comfortable with wide windows for light and fresh air. The neighbourhood is old but quiet and safe.

Pros: They were cleaning everyday and replenishing the towels and soap in the bath

Cons: Thin walls and floors which makes it easy to hear people talking behind the walls

A great choice in Porto

Pros: I had a very friendly welcome from Paulo and also spoke to his father who was equally friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, towels were changed every day and new bars of soap provided, the property is in a quiet street and the building is quite characterful, cost was reasonable and security good, there are cafes and restaurants nearby and a supermarket. These were pointed out to me by Paulo.

Cons: For some it may be a bit to far to walk from major transport links like the metro.

Very good

Pros: I stayed here three times over my 10 days in Portugal as I was travelling up and down the country. The place was clean, staff friendly. Especially the older gentleman, who spoke very little English (Much better than my awful Portuguese) who was very friendly and helpful. The other man (late 30s?!) was excellent as well. Both gave lots of helpful information about supermarkets, restaurants etc.

Cons: I had emailed and received a reply about dropping my bag off before check in. I received a reply saying this was fine. But when I arrived in the morning. Initially nobody answered. Eventually they did but wouldn't let me speak and wouldn't open the door. When I did check in the younger man explained that check in was 3pm and nobody would've been here. That is my only grip.

Pros: the location, and the fact that the residency is run by a family - i had a pleasure to meet José, an 83-year old owner, and we had a nice chat

2-night stay in Porto (Couple)

Pros: 2-night stay in Porto. The facilities were nice and the checkin (hospitality) was excellent. Room was clean and had a window for fresh air ventilation (air conditioner also).

Pros: The place is confortable the staff is kind, and clean everyday very good

Cons: A little bit away to center but is not so much
