Pros: The personal is superb, very very helpful, and always ready to help. The building itself is mesmerising and beautiful, as well as the rooms, especially the ceiling. I think this old school design is definitely something worth paying a bit extra. The bedding and towels were changed daily. It is also not that far from certain tourist sites
Cons: Rooms could be cleaner, there was some visible dust in the corners. The breakfast was quite poor, and not really worth paying for. Rooms require some refreshment, if not a complete renovation. I understand, that the building is quite old, and it is hard to place a bathroom anywhere else, but the way it was placed, made it very loud for the rest of the room, and since there is no ventilation, you leave the bathroom with humidity and quite steamy. Also, the area was quite sketchy at night, but otherwise quite peaceful.

Great hotel; won't hesitate to stay again when we return
Pros: The Rex Hotel is located just outside of the busy city centre but that's the attraction. Choice of Metro stations close by - Lapa for the airport or coast; downhill to Trindade for links everywhere, but used Faria Guimaraes to get back to avoid that last hill walk after a long day. Very happy with the room, top floor with terrace. The hotel is traditional which makes it attractive, with spacious rooms and good modern facilities. Breakfast was fresh, good quality with plenty of variation. Friendly staff; 24 hour access.
Cons: Nothing to mention; didn't experience any of the noise issues others experienced (unless you count the traffic at certain times) nor the locals/location.

Lovely antique hotel, perfectly preserved, with really kind staff.
Pros: Lovely place. It's an old building but it's kept in beautiful conditions. The staff was incredibly kind and helped with everything we needed. The breakfast was very good too. The room was very comfortable, with a big bathroom. Really nice hotel to stay. I definitely recommend it.
Cons: Not sure. I really enjoyed my stay there. I can't think of anything that can be improved.

Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent — close to the city center, with easy access to popular spots. The room I stayed in was spacious and the bed was comfortable.
Cons: the sound insulation was terrible; I could hear people walking upstairs in the middle of the night, even though I was very sleepy. Also, bring your own flip-flops, as the hotel doesn’t provide any.

Pros: Good location near metro and walkable to the city center, new furrniture and an electric kettle with tea and coffee in the room, nice bathroom.
Cons: There was sometimes a smell from the drain in the bathroom. No vegetables and hot meals (eggs, sausages) for the breakfast.

A central location to visit Porto
Pros: Location was very central. Staff well informed and kind.
Cons: The room smelled a bit humid, however a bit of ventilation with the bathroom ventilation helped lots

It was a solid stay. A prompt restyling would undoubtedly elevate it to a whole new level
Pros: This is a dated hotel, but with very large rooms. The breakfast was good, though the selection was a bit limited. The location is convenient and strategic. With a few improvements, it could really upgrade its offering. Overall, it gets a passing grade.
Cons: There's not much soundproofing between rooms.
