PortoBay Teatro

The PortoBay Hotel Teatro is a 4-star hotel in Porto belonging to the PortoBay Group. After being fully refurbished in the first half of 2021, it is now reopening its doors with a fresher, brighter and fullyrejuvenated image. It is located in the theatre district, right in the historical centre of the city, in Rua Sá da Bandeira. It is just a few steps from the city’s main attractions including São Bento Station, Clérigos Tower, Porto Cathedral, Avenida dos Aliados, Lello Bookshop, Bolhão Market and the well-known Cais da Ribeira, the Douro riverfront. At the entrance, in the main common area of the hotel is the reception and lounge where subtle décor highlights Nordic elements, natural fabrics and light wood panelling. Next to the entrance, but with its own access, the Il Basilico restaurant offers Italian comfort food flavours in the bruschettas, tortelloni, pizzas and risottos that find their way to the tables. The Il Basilico bar serves some dishes from the menu when the restaurant is closed. This area can be completely open to the street giving the feeling of a porch or indoor terrace. The hotel has 75 spacious rooms (ranging from 19.5 to 52m 2 ), divided into 5 categories (Gallery, Tribune, Audience, Junior Suite, and Suite), which offer a contemporary, natural and comfortable style. The neutral tones and light woods give a warm atmosphere that can be felt throughout the hotel.

Excellent stay with optimal location

Pros: I really enjoyed my stay here. It was thoughtful and comfortable. I loved the Junior suite. This hotel makes a stay in Porto so easy and pleasant. Staff were so fantastic - friendly and helpful. It’s a hotel I would return to time and time again when staying in Porto.

Cons: This is an issue that’s probably particular to me but in February, I thought the rooms were kept a bit warm. I kept my windows open the entire time.

Lovely staff in a very nice hotel

Pros: The choice at breakfast was very good but the hot food was lukewarm. Pastries, fruit etc very fresh and an excellent choice

Cons: Hot food was only lukewarm and the serving spoon for the needed changing more often as was constantly covered in cold scrambled egg

Fantastic hotel and great value for money.

Pros: Very luxurious, clean and easily felt value for money paid.

Cons: Mini bar and needing to pay a euro for it knowing I’m not going to use it. Would rather have a fridge to store milk as this would entice family stays with babies to toddlers.
